In this special holiday rerelease, Laura and Keith dive into tactics that will help them create and grow projects and as people. What can we do differently? What has worked in the past that we could revisit?
Before we leap into 2025, we can reflect back over 2024, and listening to how it started in this episode. As the calendar year winds down, we shift our focus. What is to come and how can we succeed in our goals for the new year?
Keith leans into time management. Laura makes space for her project. We both prioritize self-care. Our goal is to show up and lead generously.
Let’s make time for projects and the life we want.
Keith and Laura dig into and explore the practice of gratitude and its impact on both mental and physical well-being. They discuss practical and simple ways to incorporate gratitude into daily life, distinguishing between happiness and joy, and sharing accessible tools for developing a gratitude practice.
Keith introduced the “Five Minute Journal” practice and the importance of keeping gratitude simple and accessible. Laura shared the A-Z gratitude exercise from a podcast as a structured approach to creating joy.
The practice of gratitude can transform not only our own perspective but create joy that extends to others. Take 2-5 minutes today to try the Five Minute Journal, create a gratitude A-Z list, or send a heartfelt message of thanks to someone.
Key Takeaways 1. Gratitude practice doesn’t need to be complicated or time-consuming 2. There’s a meaningful distinction between happiness (internal) and joy (external) 3. Regular gratitude practice can improve both mental and physical health 4. Simple acts of expressing gratitude can create a positive ripple effect 5. *In Residence with Keith and Laura*
Keith and Laura discuss “The Gap and The Gain: The High Achiever’s Guide to Happiness, Confidence, and Success.”
Keith and Laura explore how patience can profoundly impact various aspects of their lives.
This episode is a blend of practical wisdom and emotional resonance for those seeking to cultivate greater patience and balance in their lives. Intentional moments of stillness can create tension, drama, and ultimately, a more impactful and fulfilling experience.
Keith is determined to develop the skill of pivoting between patience and ambition. His tendencies towards perfectionism and hesitation highlight how we can all strive to be more patient with ourselves, acknowledging our limitations while also pushing ourselves to grow and achieve our goals.
Laura notes how she and Keith have different ways of approaching processes. Laura is โmore patient with people than the process.โ She knows that rushing the process can lead to suboptimal results. Making time and allowing for processes to unfold naturally in our personal and professional endeavors can lead to better outcomes.
Embrace the beauty of the pause. It’s never too late to start a project, confront obstacles, pushing through setbacks, and ultimately complete your goal.
Remember, the true power of patience lies not in passivity, but in the intentional, purposeful navigation of our personal and professional journeys. By learning to slow down, reflect, and trust the process, we can unlock our full potential and create meaningful, lasting change.
Keith and Lauraโs key take aways:
โ Communicate and set clear expectations to avoid frustration.
โ Persisting through the challenges of a daunting task can cultivate fulfillment.
Keith and Laura dive into the powerful impact of the stories we tell ourselves.
We all have stories we tell ourselvesโsome empowering, others limiting. Keith and Laura emphasize the importance of awareness, catching negative self-talk, and questioning the validity and usefulness of these narratives.
A key takeaway is the concept of agency. We have the power to change our stories and, consequently, our lives. Laura and Keith share personal examples of overcoming self-doubt, highlighting the transformative effect of small, consistent steps towards growth.
The conversation also touches on valuable tools for self-reflection, such as journaling and asking probing questions. These practices can help uncover underlying beliefs and motivations, paving the way for positive change.
Laura shares a personal breakthrough of sharing about their podcast on social media, demonstrating how small actions can challenge limiting beliefs. Keith underscores the importance of community and support in personal growth journeys. Keith and Laura’s candid sharing illustrates how vulnerability and openness can not only foster personal development but also inspire and help others.
For listeners looking to delve deeper into this topic, the hosts recommend “Choose Your Story, Change Your Life” by Kindra Hall, a book that provides practical strategies for rewriting personal narratives.
Overall, this episode serves as a powerful reminder that we are the authors of our own stories. By becoming aware of our internal dialogues and actively choosing empowering narratives, we can unlock our full potential and create the lives we truly desire.

โthe texture and variability of what we create is part of the magic.โ
Itโs a delight to return to peopleโs work, like Seth Godinโs blog and find synchronicity.
Iโve been traveling on a paved road almost daily. Itโs full of potholes and bumps from years of travel. Iโve learned where to veer right to avoid the divots and drift left to avoid other ruptures and wear. I almost donโt have to think about it, muscle memory kicks in. And, as the terrain deteriorates more I need to slow down, like I was driving through a rolling field of grass.
Many holes were patched the other morning. The crews must have been out filling and tamping. Itโs a little smoother. But, I still find myself bobbing and weaving.
Is my pace good enough, or am I stuck in a pattern that isnโt working?
Do I need to go 35 mph jostling over patched potholes? If Iโm not impeding anyone else on the road, can I drive at my own pace?
Can I trust my self to know when to push a little harder and when to coast, knowing when to shift gears?
I could choose a new path. But, sometimes thatโs not an option. No roads may lead to where I want to go.
Maybe I choose a new vehicle to get me where I want to go.
Maybe, โwhere weโre going we donโt need roads.โ
Attention is a precious resource. What do you focus on? Where do you want to go.
Laura and Keith experience, well, most things differently. Attention is at the top of the list. Good, Bad, Indifferent. We interpret and react to stimulus, feedback, criticism in our own ways.
This conversation is a journey. Keith exercises his knowledge and learnings around brand, marketing and how to serve. Laura digs into the difference between original and unique. We are both on the path to change.
Thanks for joining us!
